| Darcy was born and raised on 25 acres outside of Willits, a small town on the Redwood Highway in northern California. While studying Spanish and Photojournalism in undergrad at San Francisco State University, she studied abroad in Santiago, Chile and completed documentary work in Bolivia and Venezuela. After graduating, Darcy lived and traveled in China for several years before returning to the U.S. for graduate work at Ohio University. She is currently in her second year in the Visual Communication program in Athens, Ohio. Darcy speaks fluent Spanish and intermediate Mandarin and has worked and traveled in more than thirty countries. She has been recognized for her documentary work by the Women in Photojournalism conference and College Photographer of the Year. She has freelanced for clients such as: National Geographic Traveler, Esquire, Associated Press, Polaris, Redux, Net Ease and the Southern Metropolis Daily. Darcy was recently awarded a grant from Ohio University to document the growing Nigerian Diaspora in China. |
